Data warehouse uploads

The National Data Warehouse (NDWH) is a national repository for individual level data on patients receiving HIV testing services and HIV care & treatment. The Ministry of Health (MOH) requires all facilities to upload de-identified data to the NDWH at least once every month. The submission of timely, accurate and complete de-identified medical records for HIV patients to the NDW allows the Ministry of Health to monitor and appropriately guide coordinated HIV epidemic control efforts in Kenya. It is therefore important for all EMR facilities to check the quality of data in the EMRs using both the EMRs inbuilt RDQA tools and the Data Warehouse Application Programming Interface (DWAPI) features and consistently upload this data as required.

The reporting rates, a measure of the DWH upload rate, have been on the rise with consistent uploads experienced over time. The Monthly reporting rates have improved from a low of 39%  in Dec 2019 to 85% in September 2020 for all EMR sites. There has been improved dependency on patient level data over time for decision making hence increased rate.

The figure below showcases the reporting rates comparison between KHIS and NDWH for the month of September 2020 at the county level.
